Security Glass
Tempered (securit) glass
Tempered glass is heated and rapidly cooled, which puts the surface in compression. The result is glass about 4 to 5 times stronger than annealed glass that breaks into small, blunt pieces.

Thickness guide
| Thickness | Typical use |
|---|---|
| 6 mm | Small partitions, shelves, protected locations |
| 8 mm | Partitions and interior doors |
| 10 mm | Frameless doors and larger partitions |
| 12 mm | Large frameless doors, balustrades and tall glazing |
Typical values for guidance. Final specification is confirmed per project.
Standards and testing
Thermally toughened safety glass is specified to EN 12150. For façades, heat-soak testing to EN 14179 can be specified to reduce the risk of spontaneous breakage.
